AJ Bell is pleased to announce the appointment of Raymond Sham as lead research analyst, covering active funds, to its award-winning investments team.

Raymond joins AJ Bell after spending nearly four years as an investment analyst at Morningstar. Prior to that he was a fund manager and analyst at Praemium for more than six and a half years before its acquisition by Morningstar.

As lead research analyst, Raymond will help manage the ongoing maintenance of existing fund picks in the AJ Bell portfolios and Favourite Funds list, as well as play a pivotal role across the investment research process. He will also collaborate with AJ Bell’s portfolio managers to ensure research outputs are aligned with fund mandates, risk parameters and investment philosophy.

Raymond’s appointment follows the recent announcement that AJ Bell Investments is to reduce charges for its core MPS range, from 0.15% to 0.12% from 1 October 2026. Consistent performance across AJ Bell’s range of investment solutions in both the short and long term saw assets under management grow by 30% in the year to March 2026 to £9.8 billion.

Raymond Sham, lead research analyst (active funds) at AJ Bell, says:

“I’m delighted to be joining AJ Bell’s investments team at an exciting time for the business. I very much look forward to working closely with our portfolio managers and across the investment team as we continue to enhance the firm’s investment research capabilities.”

Paul Angell, head of investment research at AJ Bell, adds:

“As our investment business continues to grow, we need to ensure we have the people and expertise to maintain the high standards we’ve set for ourselves over the past 10 years. Raymond brings with him a wealth of valuable experience in the investment research space and we are excited to start work with him as we look to build on our strong momentum.”
