AJ Bell to host adviser seminars focusing on diversity in financial services

AJ Bell Investcentre has announced two unique Luminary 2018 seminars for advisers and paraplanners this June.
6 June 2018

Luminary is a one-of-a-kind event which aims to support diversity in the financial services industry with educational and inspirational talks from a variety of first-class speakers:

  • Advisers and paraplanners will hear from Iona Bain, The Young Money Blog founder on why a change is coming in financial services and how she believes women can revolutionise the sector

  • FinalytiQ’s Abraham Okunsanya will talk to our London audience about feminism in finance and AJ Bell’s Lisa Webster will host a session on pensions and divorce

  • Attendees will also hear from M&G’s Claudia Calich (Fund Manager Emerging Markets) and Ritu Vohora (Investment Director) on investing in Emerging Market debt and positioning client portfolios in a global market context

  • AJ Bell’s newly appointed Non-Executive Director, Laura Carstensen will discuss with our Manchester audience how she combined a large family with a demanding City career and latterly a portfolio boardroom career

  • Corinne Hutton, the inspiring founder of charity, Finding your Feet will tell her story of a second chance at life following a Sepsis infection and her subsequent double amputation, including how she is fighting to help stop sepsis killing 44,000 per year

In its second year, Luminary will visit London and Manchester on 20 and 21 June 2018 respectively.

The unique seminar and networking opportunity is already proving to be hugely popular, so it is recommended that advisers and paraplanners register for the event soon.

Journalists who would like to attend the event should contact hannah.purslow@ajbell.co.uk.

Iona Bain, The Young Money Blog founder comments:

“AJ Bell are at the forefront of the conversation about how we can freshen up thinking in the financial industry. As a Young Money blogger and commentator, I know all too well that the sector must do more to reflect the worries, dreams and aspirations of ordinary folks. I am particularly excited to be talking to delegates in London and Manchester about how more women can flourish in the industry and how we can do more to value the "female touch" in financial services.”

Lisa Webster, AJ Bell technical resources consultant comments:

“Luminary 2016 was a great event which got people engaged and sharing their experiences as women in the financial services industry. The response and networking was unlike any other event I’ve attended and I’m really looking forward to doing it again in a supportive environment where we can all learn from each other.”
