John joins AJ Bell with a wealth of experience, having spent all of his career working in the IT and financial services sectors. John began his career with IBM, where he rose to an executive position, before moving on firstly to Prudential and then to the Britannic. He was a co-founder of Selestia in 2001 and went on to perform roles as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer of the Shared Services division of Skandia respectively from when it acquired Selestia in 2006 until his retirement in 2010.

During his time at Selestia, John oversaw the launch of its investment platform and pioneered breakthrough thinking about client investment solutions and transacting business online. Whilst at Skandia, John set up the Shared Services division to provide services to Skandia UK, Skandia International and other parts of the Old Mutual group, and played a key role in the development of the customer proposition that resulted in the growth of the assets under the administration of the platform from £5 billion to £40 billion.

John is presently the Non-Executive Chairman of a major technology and software supplier to investment platforms. John shares the same passion as AJ Bell for providing outstanding customer service. In 1995 he co-founded the Institute of Customer Service, finally leaving the board in August last year.
